2025/2026 Unit-Study Pods
2025-26 Pods
We are excited to bring back and expand this unique learning experience!
<Hub Membership is required for this class.>
This unique learning environment will provide 5 hours of time each day where students are fully engaged in a fun, inviting, and educational way!
New to the 2025-2026 year, There will be two days of pods offered. All pod days will include two major groupings: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and Humanities (History, Reading, Writing, Art).
With two days offered, they will share a THEME, but the work will not be duplicated. So, you could sign up for just Monday, just Tuesday, or BOTH! A sample lesson plan is included at the end of this product description.
Also of note- themes and lessons will be different from year to year. If your student participated in the 3rd-5th grade pod this school year, and their age still has them in that same pod for next year, they WILL learn new things! It will not be like repeating a year of instruction. Some holiday and seasonal themes may repeat, but we will work to vary the activities around those themes.
All activities will be leveled up or down to meet each child where they are, educationally. While older students will write paragraphs, younger students will focus on word and sentence formation. Older students may work equations while younger students work on simple adding and subtracting skills.
Pods (and other academics) will be billed differently this year, using an invoicing system. After registering through this link, you will be sent an invoice for the full amount. While this CAN be paid in full (and a discount is offered for doing such), it is not expected. When you receive your invoice, you will reply with how you need these payments broken down. A minimum 20% payment will be required to secure your spot. Since this product purchase involves no money, this does NOT save your place. A payment MUST be made for your spot to be reserved. We are happy to provide a broken down payment plan. We just ask that you are paid up to 50% by start of class on September 8, and paid for the year by December 1.If you fail to meet these requirements, you will be forfeiting your spot for the spring semester, losing any monies previously paid towards that balance. If you choose not to attend, your deposit and payments will NOT be refunded. Course availability and teacher staffing are scheduled in advance, and we have to ensure we are set up for success. Our calendar comes out to 30 class meetings as planned now, but even with potential holidays or inclement weather, etc- we believe these classes to be provided at an immense value!

Prerequisites and Expectations:
Preschool- potty trained and ready to play with friends, work on calendar skills, letters and numbers.
Primary- ages about Kindergarten to about 2nd grade. This is not a rigid guideline with specific age requirements. This group should have basic number and letter awareness. Don’t have to be able to read fluently or “do math” but be ready to learn these things.
Elementary- about 3rd grade to about 5th grade. These students will likely be reading but they’ll never be asked or forced to read aloud. Some basic adding and subtracting would be expected but they won’t be quizzed 😜
Middle- about 6th-8th grade
There is flexibility in the groupings. We want everyone to be in a group that’s developmentally appropriate and comfortable.
*It is our hope to add a grouping for next year.. Preschool, K-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-5th, Middle School. However, since these teachers are not yet secured- The description above is how the program is running currently.
SAMPLE LESSON PLAN

MONDAY | TUESDAY | AT HOME Suggestions |

H: Creative Writing using the fiction story as inspiration | H: create a topographical map of what we know about ancient civilizations | Create a topographical map of your hometown |
H: Make paper using ancient methods | H: use natural items to create dyes and dye fabric | Try this at home: choose a dye source (e.g., boiled onion skins, berries, beets). Simmer the dye in water. Soak the fabric in mordant solution first. Then soak fabric in the dye bath. Let it dry and observe results. Try using different types of fabric to see which one absorbs the most color. |
While all of our students enjoy time outside, our older students have outgrown our side yard. We do occasionally walk 5 blocks (three of which are on the Guyton Trail) to the Old School Park behind the Police Station for extra green space. This will always be done with two adults present for safety.
There are other co-ops, drop off programs, and micro schools in our area. We hope to be a creative supplement if you're already involved in one of these area programs. But if you aren't- we hope you find the deep and broad coverage to be just what you've been looking for!
