Students should have prior knowledge of the concept of adding and subtracting.  They should be able to add and subtract single digit numbers.  Mrs. Stephania will be using the Life of Fred as the spine of and supporting worksheets from Rod & Staff.  She will also be incorportaing games from Denise Gaskins. 
 
Please not: Rod and Staff is a faith based curriculum.  She will not be teaching any faith components or doctrine, we just like for you to know that if you DO buy the book, God and the Bible are mentioned in word problems.  Each week, the teacher will let parents know what topics will covered.  She will make a goal to attach some online worksheets or sites where your student can practice.  Her focus will be introducing these new skills and helping students master the process.  The actual practice work is left to the parents at home. Students are welcome to show the teacher their practice, but no grades will be given.
