26-27 Unit-Study Pods

26-27 Unit-Study Pods

We are excited to bring back and expand this unique learning experience!

This unique learning environment will provide 5 hours of time each day where students are fully engaged in a fun, inviting, and educational way!

There will be two days of pods offered. All pod days will include two major groupings: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and Humanities (History, Reading, Writing, Art).

With two days offered, they will share a THEME, but the work will not be duplicated.  So, you could sign up for just Monday, just Tuesday, or BOTH! A sample lesson plan is included at the end of this product description.

Also of note- themes and lessons will be different from year to year.  If your student participated in the 3rd-5th grade pod this school year, and their age still has them in that same pod for next year, they WILL learn new things! It will not be like repeating a year of instruction.  Some holiday and seasonal themes may repeat, but we will work to vary the activities around those themes.

All activities will be leveled up or down to meet each child where they are, educationally. While older students will write paragraphs, younger students will focus on word and sentence formation. Older students may work equations while younger students work on simple adding and subtracting skills.

Pricing for the 2026-2027 year: (this does not include registration fees; registration is PER STUDENT and has replaced membership fees)

one day k-5th $1650

one day middle $1,750

Both days k-5th  $3200

Both days middle $3400

**NEW** Pod Days are 9:00-2:00 with lunch at approx 11:30-12:00

BILLING Pods (and other academics) will be billed using an invoicing system.  After registering through this link, you will be sent a quote for the full amount.  While this CAN be paid in full, it is not expected.  When you receive your quote, you will fill out a form letting us know how we should bill you. This registration fee will hold your spot for 30 days.  After 30 days, you must have submitted your first payment towards the balance of the class.  If you do not do so, your spot will be forfeited. If you choose not to attend, your registration and payments will NOT be refunded. Course availability and teacher staffing are scheduled in advance, and we have to ensure we are set up for success. Our calendar comes out to 30 weekly class meetings (so, 30 weeks x 2 days = 60 meetings if you sign up for both Monday and Tuesday) as planned now, but even with potential holidays or inclement weather, etc- we believe these classes to be provided at an immense value!

Prerequisites and Expectations:

Preschool(if added)- potty trained and ready to play with friends, work on calendar skills, letters and numbers.

Kinder/1- ages about Kindergarten to about 1st grade. This is not a rigid guideline with specific age requirements. This group should have basic number and letter awareness. Don’t have to be able to read fluently or “do math” but be ready to learn these things.

Primary- about 2nd to 3rd grade.  In this class, basic reading, number sense, simple adding and subtracting would be standard.  While students won’t be quizzed or asked to perform these skills in front of others, it would be hard for them to follow along on some lessons without them.

Elementary- about 4th grade to about 5th grade. These students will be reading but they’ll never be asked or forced to read aloud. Some basic math skills would be expected but they won’t be quizzed 😜

Middle- about 6th-8th grade

9th/10th- IF we are able to do something for this, it will have to be a different day of the week.  We have a strong idea for this program, but it is still in very early stages.

There is flexibility in the groupings. We want everyone to be in a group that’s developmentally appropriate and comfortable.

*At this time, pre-school and high school is being registered with no fee and on an **interest basis**.  We will be leaning into a 2 grade grouping in the elementary years.  WIth teachers currently arranged we do not have the staff to do a preschool program on these days, and we don’t want our active 8th graders to age out- but WE ARE WORKING ON IT.

While all of our students enjoy time outside, our older students have outgrown our side yard.  We do occasionally walk 5 blocks (three of which are on the Guyton Trail) to the Old School Park behind the Police Station for extra green space.  This will always be done with two adults present for safety.

There are other co-ops, drop off programs, and micro schools in our area. We hope to be a creative supplement if you're already involved in one of these area programs. But if you aren't- we hope you find the deep and broad coverage to be just what you've been looking for!
