A little about Mrs. Jenni

Alright, I am going to write this one in first person!! I'm having all the teachers write blurbs about themselves, and I figure it's only fair to give you a little peek into my background and how I got where I am today.

I grew up in the Savannah and Effingham area. So, while I left for college and stayed gone much of my adult life, this is home, and I am blessed to be building something wonderful in an area that holds my heart. After graduating from South Effingham in 2000, I left for college in Rome, Georgia. My college experience was truly idyllic! While I always knew I wanted to be a mom and a teacher, college was the time where I discovered I have the crazy gene that draws me to Middle Schoolers! I was also able to enjoy leadership opportunities through my sorority. As president of a sorority at a small college, I was put in positions of discomfort and growth while helping bring about change.

After graduating college, I began work "officially" at Cedartown Middle School, and later Darlington School. I found a true sense of purpose and family in these communities. I specialized in helping students who really didn't love math. Little did I know that life experience would later lead me to own a whole business focused on alternative learning opportunities.

As my daughters came along, my heart was called to be at home. So while there were financial challenges with staying home, the reward cannot be weighed! When it was time for my oldest to start Kindergarten, I knew her place was still at home with me. Not to shelter or protect, but to cherish and have a front row seat to her learning. As the years ticked by, at home continued to be the place our family chose for our children's learning. It has been a blessing but has also brought some of the hardest challenges. Let me tell you- just because you are trained in education does not mean homeschool will come easy to you everyday!

While the financial sacrifice was a part of the decision to tutor and teach small classes, the longing for teaching and helping others understand math never quieted. In 2017, we returned to this area and in 2020, following Covid, the need for small group classes for homeschoolers was stronger than ever. In a church building I began to teach math for 5 hours. From there, a vision I had developed back in Rome began to grow. I knew I needed a place to do more for the homeschool community. Math is awesome (sincerely, not sarcastically!) but I wanted a place for more fun classes, too! This is the beginnings of The Hub for Students. That's a whole story of growth worthy of its own post. But this is MY story! My girls are now 16, 14, and 11. Yes- THREE TEENAGE GIRLS at the same time. Stay tuned to see if I survive this part of my journey!
